Have you ever had the ending of a story told to you before you had had a chance to read the book or watch the film? When it happens to you, you’re apt to get mad about it and spout sarcastically, “Thanks a lot for spoiling the ending for me!”
As I look out the window, I see that the sun is shining in a sky of blue, the snow is melting rapidly, and I know that soon the trees, grass, and flowers will burst forth with new life. Winter has passed and spring is coming.
What would it have been like at the time of the Nativity? For example, the shepherds tending to their sheep encounter the heavenly host of angels proclaiming the good news of great joy to all — that must have been quite the sight!
When we look at the calendar and see that it already reads December, it’s a reminder of how busy things get and how fast time flies. It always seems to be a combination of “I didn’t get everything done!” and “I still have so much to do!”
